In-House Manufacturing
From Raw Material to Downhole Tool
Unlike most MWD/LWD providers who rely on third-party OEMs for critical components, ALFA controls every stage of the manufacturing process. Our Houston facility houses precision CNC machining centers, electronics assembly cleanrooms, and full pressure/temperature test benches.
This vertical integration means faster lead times, tighter tolerances, and the ability to rapidly iterate on tool designs based on real field data — without waiting on external supply chains.

From the first line of firmware to the final pressure test, every capability that matters is owned by ALFA.
Electronics Design & Assembly
Custom PCB design, firmware development, and in-house electronics assembly for all sensor and telemetry modules. Every board is tested to full operating temperature and pressure before integration.
Precision CNC Machining
5-axis CNC machining of high-strength alloy tool bodies, pressure housings, and mechanical sub-assemblies. Tolerances held to ±0.001" on critical bore dimensions.
HPHT Testing & Qualification
Full high-pressure, high-temperature test benches capable of simulating 20,000 psi and 175°C simultaneously. Every tool is pressure-cycled and thermally soaked before deployment.
Mud Pulse Telemetry
Proprietary mud pulse telemetry system engineered for reliable data transmission in high-flow, high-noise drilling environments. Optimized encoding for maximum data rate at depth.
Sensor Integration
Multi-axis accelerometers, magnetometers, gamma ray detectors, resistivity antennas, and density/neutron sources — all integrated and calibrated in-house against traceable standards.
Real-Time Data Processing
Downhole firmware and surface software co-developed by ALFA engineers. Real-time processing algorithms for directional surveys, formation evaluation, and drilling dynamics.
